Matter of lease renewal for Tamar Village Meats Butchery

We wish to advise club members that Ballina RSL Club Ltd has been informed by the new landlord of the Tamar Village Shopping Centre that the club's current lease for Tamar Village Butchery, due to expire on the 10th November 2008, will not be renewed.

As a consequence the Board is now evaluating a range of options for the future provision of meat products and will advise in due course once that decision has been made.

Importantly, Scott and his team at Tamar Village Butchery will continue to provide club members, both of our clubs, other businesses, and the wider community with quality meat products over the coming months.

All club members can continue to enjoy the 10% discount offer on meat purchases (conditions apply).

Please turn to page 6 to view Tamar Village Meats Special Winter Promotions for Club Members.

Thanks to all club members for your support of Tamar Village Meats.

Confucius Does - from the General Manager

Please allow me to reiterate very strongly, the words of our Chairman... we will be constantly striving to place our clubs in the strongest postition possible in the face of the industry's and the economy's most recent changes and challenges.

What a great Winter Entertainment line up we have for the whole family! It all builds to the exciting period of the Olympic Games where I'm sure many of the athletes will remind us about many of life's important lessons.

We will have a terrific amount of new promotions launched as the Games open... so let the games begin! All of our club games will have something to do with the Chinese superstition based around their lucky no.8... and that's all I'm prepared to tell you at this stage!

My lips are sealed except to say Chi Le Mei You?

We have also been introducing some new lines into the food and beverage side of our business. It would seem that whilst we are enjoying many occasions these days, we are doing so with some sensational international flavours!

With sport so firmly in the spotlight this Winter, let me just take this opportunity to remind you of our many internal sporting sub-clubs on offer. Exercise is sure to keep us all warm and on top of our game as those temperatures fall! But rest assured... they will rise again!!

I look forward to warmly welcoming you to our clubs this season!

Confucius Says - from the chairman

As we head towards the 2008 Beijing Olympics over these next few Winter months, the will to win, the desire to suceed, the urge to reach one's potential... this wll all be highly evident as we will all become increasingly immersed in the effotrts of both the competing individual athletes and numerous teams.

These are actually the underlying principles in Ballina RSL's approach to business excellence across our organisation on an ongoing basis. By this, I mean...

The will to continue to win best outcomes for members and the Ballina community in a healthy and competitive regional marketplace...

The desire to succeed by focusing on continuous improvement in all that we do... building relationships... and by constantly striving to place our clubs in the strongest position possible to face the industy's vast challenges...

The urge to reach our full potential via thourough planning, investment in our staff and through taking the time to both learn and know our customers.

Our recent services survey distributed to both members and non-members has seen an impressive response. We are looking forward to receiving and following up on the results... and to sharing some of them with you.

Thank you to all those who took the time to tell us what you want!

Clubs are indeed considerate in their dealing with their communities. The Ballina RSL and Ballina RSL Bowling Club have always shown a strong commitment to our community though our various, ongoing contributions. In the face of yet more recent industry change and issues, we will endeavour to do everything in our power to keep our community efforts and connections solid wherever possible.

It was fantastic to see the huge turn out for this year's Anzac Day Community Commemorative Services. I was also eager to learn more about the Gallipoli experience from those members who made the pilgrimage via the Club's annual Gallipoli Tour. Seems I might even be making the pilgrimage next year - it would be great to have many more members joining us in future.

My warmest wishes to all members and their families for a cosy Winter. If you're in need of some cheer, please drop in to see us at tha Ballina RSL or Ballina RSL Bowling Club, There's sure to be something steaming on our menus, something to smile about and something to celebrate... and on that note... go the Aussie team in Beijing!
