What a great day to wet a line!

2007 Ballina RSL Fishing Club’s Australia Day Kids Fishing Competition Results

Sarah Joblin caught the biggest fish! The
eight-year old won the 5-9 years category with an 800g bream.

The 10-16 years division was won by 12 year-old Andrew Powell with a 600g flathead.

Sarah won a Shimano rod, reel and tackle box as well as a fishing chair and snorkel set. Andrew won a Shimano rod, reel and tackle box as well as tackle and an inflatable kayak.

Andrew Powell also won a prize for the most species caught.

In the 5-9 years division, Shaun Ross (aged 8) came second and Ethan Mason- Reynolds (aged 5) came third.

For the 10-16 years division, Lukas Flannery (aged 12) came second and Jake Hesse (aged 11) came third. Daniel Richter (aged 16) came second in the category for most species caught.

A total of 186 children – 52 girls and 134 boys – entered this year’s competition. That’s triple the amount of last year’s entries! They managed to catch 37 fish in the catch-and-release competition. Congratulations to all winners and to all those who participated and ‘had a go’. It was a fantastic day out along and on Ballina’s Richmond River!
