Ballina RSL Club and Mandy Nolan Presents THE BIG GIG
stand up comedy at its best...
FEATURING MICK MEREDITH PLUS SUPPORT NICK PENN AND MC MANDY NOLAN.

18+ Event Only
MICK MEREDITH
Mick Meredith is one of Australia’s most versatile comedy performers and has established himself over the years as a popular and successful funny man.
Mick cut his teeth in the musical world, playing in bands in his early teens then a detour into magic and clowning and finally switching to stand up comedy in his 30s.
His experience in all these genres of entertainment have made him an all-round performer, a tradesman of comedy and he can blend all his skills into one huge show, a big fat comedy buffet with all the trimmings.
Mick’s style has been described as laidback and cheeky with plenty of laughs and applause, a bloke you’ll laugh at onstage and want to have a beer with afterwards.
Mick has headlined all over Australia and beyond including appearances at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Auckland Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Port Moresby Yacht Club, Sydney Comedy Festival, Wild West Comedy Festival (Perth), P and O Cruise ships, Kuwait U.S Army Base, Cyprus United Nations headquarters and the Roo Bar in the Sinai desert on the border of Israel and Egypt where he got the troops from all over the world laughing and raising their glasses at his Aussie humour.
Mick has appeared on film, TV and radio including The Footy Show, Mornings with Kerri Ann, Ten HD’s Thursday Night Live, Joker Poker, The Fat, LG, Picnic, KFC and aapt commercials, Stand-up Australia, Triple M, The Sydney Cracker Festival Gala and feature films Bloody Hell and Footy Legends with Anh Do, Peter Phelps and Claudia Karvan.
Whether MCing, doing stand-up or singing and playing guitar. Micks’ razor sharp and loveable wit will have you laughing from start to finish and always delivering a top shelf comedy show.
Be it a pub, club, function or festival, Mick will get the job done with plenty of smiles, toe tapping and belly laughs.
NICK PENN
Stand Up comedian Nick Penn is the feature at this month's Big Gig. A true professionial Nick manages what some say is impossible: an entire feature set without swearing or being offensive. It's what's makes Penn's shows so enjoyable, and has seen him grace the stage with show biz greats like Peter Allen.
Nick has been working as a stand up comic for almost two decades and his work reflects this. There's no incoherent rambling looking for a gag, Nick just rolls them out one after the other. When Penn's around you know there's going to be plenty of punchlines. Mandy Nolan went to a BBQ at his house recently and was amused to find that Penn had also invited a skinny chap from down the road sporting a 'Vegan for Life' T-shirt. The perfect slogan for people eating chops! Penn's wicked sense of humour goes well beyond the backyard Barbie, and deconstructs what it is to be an Ozzie.
SOMETHING ABOUT MANDY NOLAN
Mandy Nolan has performed as a stand-up comedian for 18 years. During that time, she has worked alongside celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Ertha Kit, and Bob Downe.
Mandy's stand-up is known and loved for its rapid fire philosophical philandering and for the obtuse observations and esoteric back scratches that emerge from the musings of what she describes as "a modern madam whose dilemma is to navigate the new frontiers in the suburban badlands of human relationships."
Audiences adore Mandy on stage, and around Byron Bay where she lives, Mandy-jokes are as much a part of the vernacular as any surf speak. Her humour is sharp, honest, sometimes self-depreciating, somewhat outrageous, but never cruel or pretentious. Frequently irreverent, it speaks to a diverse audience with no set demographic, no gender, race or religion, occupation or tribe. It even crosses state borders and mediums (Mandy also writes and paints).
