The Girls of Country Tour (Under 18 must be with a parent at all times)

The Girls of Country Tour (Under 18 must be with a parent at all times)
Saturday, August 01 2015, 8:30PM

AMBER LAWRENCE, ALEYCE SIMMONDS AND CHRISTIE LAMB
THE GIRLS OF COUNTRY TOUR
2015 CMAA Golden Guitar - Female Artist of the Year and 2015 CMC Female Oz Artist of the Year, Amber Lawrence,
leads the way with The Girls of Country Tour.
A brand new touring concept fronted by Amber and featuring guest country artists, Aleyce Simmonds and Lyn Bowtell, THE GIRLS OF COUNTRY TOUR takes a leaf out of the former sell out show Songbirds (Beccy Cole, Gina
Jeffreys and Sara Storer) to feature the new breed of award winning female country artists, who are leading the
pack and resurgence of country music in Australia.
In a 2 hour show, audiences cannot only expect to hear the hits from three of the hottest young female country
artists today, but they will also be treated to some very special ‘trio’ performances and putting a twist on things.
Each artist will perform their own version of each other’s hit songs, so get ready to hear something completely
unique and a different version of a song you love!
Whilst there’s some similarity between the three artists – all being country singers, there’s certainly a huge disparity
with their styles. Amber kicks it up with up-tempo, fun and sassy tunes interspersed with personal stories and
heartfelt poignant ballads that she’s become well known for. Lyn Bowtell rocks it out and Aleyce brings in the
balance with more mid-tempo reflective style and tunes backed up with her exceptional vocals.

CONSPIRACY OF ONE

CONSPIRACY OF ONE
Saturday, August 08 2015, FROM 6:30PM

In a dark, smoky room in a far away city, a shady cabal of businessmen plot to control the music industry. Manufacturing pop stars, censoring and controlling the media in order to market their plastic version of music to the world, this group continues to make untold millions off of the great unwashed masses.

But one man has uncovered the truth! The truth that there are songs out there with a heart, a message, a purpose.

This man strives to bring you songs with dynamic, rhythmic guitar, powerful raw vocals, emotion, allusion, metaphor and satire. Songs that are just catchy enough to stay in your head, and deliver to you their not-so-subliminal messages.

For security reasons, lest THEY track him down, he can give you only his codename: “Conspiracy of One”.

THE BRANDOLINI'S

THE BRANDOLINI'S
Saturday, August 15 2015, 7pm

Gabriel and Cecilia are two wonderful young and inspired singer songwriters with a wealth of musical talent. This creative and original brother and sister from Northern NSW first picked up instruments around 6 or 7 years of age are now proficient in a colourful array of instruments, including Piano, Bass, Ukulele, Guitar and Viola.
The sibling duo came 9th in The Voice 2014 and astounded both the judges and the country with their incredibly unique approach to music itself, insisting they play their own instruments in all performances. Gabriel and Cecilia became overnight sensations completely transforming songs to make them their own, defying all conventional norms, demolishing the stereotype reality TV show stigmas often create for artists. They left the show having impacted the industry like none before them and all without losing a shred of integrity.
Their original album 'Dirt on our Shoes' reached number 9 in the national iTunes album charts and number 3 on Singer-Songwriter charts. Their 2nd original album 'Eyelids Bouncing' reached number 5 on the Singer-Songwriter chart. Their rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream' reached number 5 on the national iTunes single charts and all their singles released through The Voice accumulated were more than any other contestant.
Gabriel and Cecilia have an immediate impact, drawing listeners in with their soulful and seamlessly layered vocals. Gabriel possesses a full three- octave range while Cecilia sings a multitude of complex harmonies as well as lead vocals they perform with passion and energy! Paired with alternating instruments without missing a beat they never fail to please and leave you wanting more…
Their magical presence taking audiences on a journey with subtle shades of light and dark, at just 17 and 21 Gabriel and Cecilia possess a keen awareness beyond their years as musical story tellers with intelligent compositions, imaginative and quirky arrangements and a natural love of the beauty of music. Inspired by artists such as Kimbra, Circa Survive, Harvard, Animals As Leaders, John Mayer, Coldplay, Joe Hisaishi, Kate Miller-Heidke, Missy Higgins, Regina Spektor and Hiatus Kaiyote, the end result is as unique as it gets.

The Big Gig

Featuring: Chris Wainhouse
Support: Joe Shaffer
MC: Mandy Nolan

CHRIS WAINHOUSE After a white-bred, middle class upbringing, Chris turned out an arty-trendy sort of try hard, and a magnet for dominant women. A product of his environment, Chris lives a life of weird repetitions with no time for rational thought.
His sharp-witted and daringly clever act has seen him perform with many comic greats such as Vince Sorrenti, Bruno Lucia, Jeff Green (UK), John Maloney (UK), Mark Mayer (UK), Arj Barker (USA) and Stevie Starr - The Regurgitator.
Triple J Raw Comedy Winner (Qld Final) 1999
Triple J Raw Comedy Winner (Aus Final) 1999
Harold Park Sydney - Comic of the year 1998

JOE SHAFFER Don’t call him an American. This boy’s from Texas. Joe began performing his ‘observational nonsense’ flavor of standup back in 2009. Before standup, Joe created the award-winning comic strip Slow Children at Play that ran for three years, performed improve with National Comedy Theatre, and prize-winning sketch with Mascot Wedding.
He has performed with top talent from the US, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia and won’t stop until he’s out-joked them all. Joe is the also world’s premiere Hambone comedian. What’s that even mean? You should definitely come find out.

MANDY NOLAN Mandy Nolan has performed as a stand-up comedian for 18 years. During that time, she has worked alongside celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Ertha Kit, and Bob Downe.
Mandy's stand-up is known and loved for its rapid fire philosophical philandering and for the obtuse observations and esoteric back scratches that emerge from the musings of what she describes as "a modern madam whose dilemma is to navigate the new frontiers in the suburban badlands of human relationships."

Colleen Hewett's Black & White Tour (18+)
Friday, September 04 2015, 8:30pm

Colleen Hewett and her band are about to embark on a series of shows where she will be presenting the songs that started it all for her. A blend of blues and songs that tell the story of her life.

Colleen said “In my career, a lot of the material I recorded, was chosen for me, but these days I am doing the music I choose. “My career began with soulful blues, and I really enjoy performing some of this material and new songs with my band”.

Hewett has had a wide and varied career including stage shows, film, television and recording, but it is the live performing that she enjoys most. “Not running to the script is such good fun for me these days, and the boys and I play as we feel on the day - it even surprises me sometimes”, Colleen said.

After 15 years without recording, Colleen’s new album will be released early in 2015 and she will feature songs from the CD in her shows.

“It’s a whole different take”, said Colleen.

Paul Hayman's Not Strictly Ballroom - The Story of Cloudland (18+)

Paul Hayman's Not Strictly Ballroom - The Story of Cloudland (18+)
Saturday, September 12 2015, Show 8:30pm Doors 7:45pm

Cloudland Ballroom was a Brisbane Icon for over 40 years and was the social hub of the city during the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s. The Stage set for this show is a replica bandstand, identical to the one at Cloudland, including the famous mural backdrop, neon archway & Music Stands. The dance floor in front of the stage is incorporated into the show and for the majority of the show, is available to the audience for dancing, thus creating the illusion that you are dancing in front of the band as you would have done at Cloudland Ballroom itself. Paul has created this unique "interactive" element to the show to give the audience a new and fresh show experience. The show itself incorporates the music, history, fashions and dance phases during Cloudland Ballrooms existence. It is structured as a chronological journey through the Ballroom's history. This nostalgic element literally takes you back in time to when the ‘Weekend Dance’ was a big event and dancing to a live band was the norm.

This modern day crooner, originally from Liverpool England, has performed with many of the UK’s leading big bands, including the UK’s premier big band ‘The Syd Lawrence Orchestra’.

This talented entertainer cleverly combines traditional and contemporary swing with great flair and imagination; he is a natural on stage, performing many of his own arrangements of the jazz/swing classics, with a style unique to him.

2012 was a busy year for Craig, the highlights included Craig and his Swing Band being asked to headline Logan’s ‘Jazz and Shiraz’ Festival, this followed on from the success of his performance the previous year at the same event. In June, Craig had the privilege of working with Emma Pask, James Morrison’s leading female vocalist, when she opened up Craig’s sell out show at the Arts Centre Gold Coast. To end the year Craig was delighted to perform a swingin’ forty minute set at Logan City’s Christmas Carols Concert where he entertained the crowds alongside ‘The Voice’ stars, Prinnie Stevens and Mahalia Barnes!

Mike McClellan - The Song & Dance Man (18+)
Saturday, December 12 2015, 8:30pm

MIKE McCLELLAN – the Song and Danceman.

Mike McClellan returns with a brand new album of songs, his second in three years. The stunningly eclectic and evocative Dancing In The Rain will only further enhance Mike’s reputation as one of Australia’s finest songwriters.

One of the songs he has been playing live I Wonder Who You’re Waiting For is already getting enormous reaction.

With songs like SONG AND DANCEMAN, THE ONE I LOVE, SATURDAY DANCE and ROCK AND ROLL LADY, Mike McClellan has earned an honoured place within the history of Australian music.

Mike’s career spanned the late 70’s and early 80’s, and brought chart-topping songs and gold albums – plus his own ABC TV show.

Then in 2011, after years of pouring his creative energies into the marketing and advertising industries, Mike made a long-awaited return to performing and recording, with an album of brand new songs If only for a moment… and again began to do concerts and folk festivals across the country.

That both new albums sustain the exceptional quality of his much-loved early work, while richly reflecting his growth as a writer, is ample testimony to Mike’s enduring talent.

Mike McClellan is back. Well and truly.
