ANDY SUGARCANE COLLINS
Saturday, February 04 2012, 8.00pm
For the past five years Sugarcane Collins has been riding the blues train for all he is worth. From juke joints in the Mississippi Delta to blues clubs in Buenos Aires, alone and acoustic, he has fearlessly taken his music out on the road performing for those who want their blues alive and raw and real. Recently in South America, he made history by being the very first Australian bluesman to perform in Argentina.
Big tours of the USA in 2005/2006/2008 and East Coast Australian tours in 2007/2008/2009 plus appearances at major events all around the country such as the Byron Bay Blues Festival, the Gympie Muster, Blues on Broadbeach, the Blue Mountains Blues&Roots Festival and Blues at Bridgetown in WA to name a few, are testament to his ever growing reputation as one of the most original and authentic blues artists performing in Australia today.
When the 2004 Queensland Songwriter of the Year sings the blues you see the fervour in his face, the light in his eyes and the veins in his neck. A powerful solo performer playing hard driving acoustic guitars, he moves fluidly from down home delta to ragtime to swing to Chicago shuffle. But it is his voice, with its deep resonance and rich tonal variety, which is his most enchanting vehicle. A forceful explosive singer and a versatile dynamic guitarist, he is also a master storyteller. Thirty years worth of adventures on the road and a deep understanding of blues history make for great entertainment whenever Sugarcane Collins commands the stage.

PHIL & GAZ
Saturday, February 11 2012, 8.00pm
The newest acoustic duo to hit the Northern Rivers, Phill Mayer and Gaz, have been playing the Byron Club scene, at The Byron Beach Hotel, Aquarious Bar and The Great Northern and have recently had gigs at the Ballina RSL Club. Both Phill and Gaz (Marc Labonte) are part of a local band called “the Last”. Phill Mayer is the lead singer of the group and Marc plays a “mean” Les Paul guitar. All of the music performed by “the Last” are original songs written by the group, but now as Phill and Gaz have set out on their new venture, when not performing with the full band, their music is mainly cover songs from some of everyone’s favourite bands, Pearl Jam, Powderfinger, Cold Chisel, Van Morrison, Three Doors Down, just to name a few, as well as a whole spectrum of songs to accommodate the crowd.
Phill is a Ballina, Lennox and Byron local and a couple of years back was the winner of Ballina Idol and Lismore’s Search for a Star. His vocal abilities will keep you entertained and prove how good our local talent really is.
Marc Labonte (Gaz) is from Canada and resides in Byron Bay and has been playing guitar for almost 10 years. He is an accomplished musician and their duo performance is not to be missed.

Through his affable charisma, dedication and entertainment value, Sully has developed an eminent and likeable public profile throughout Australia, and it's no wonder. Sully just isn't one of the funniest blokes on the circuit, he's also one of the most generous.
Greg is joined by support act Silvina, the Uruguayan born, Israeli raised girl from Ocean Shores. Silvina has just returned from a season at Woodford Folk Festival, has performed at Nimbin Mardi Grass and is a regular on the local comedy scene.

SUPA NORTH PRESENTS GUYS AND DOLLS
Friday, March 02 2012, Doors open 7.00pm, Show starts at 8.00pm
Guys and Dolls captures the essence of Damon Runyon’s original short story “The Idyll of Miss Sarah Brown” and covers the dual love stories of Sister Sarah and Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit and Miss Adelaide. Frank Loesser’s music and lyrics bring the lively characters of a 1950s Broadway to life and magically the music has not dated and is as lively and exciting as it was when it first hit the stage on Broadway in November 1950.
Supa North’s production stars well known local singer and performer Dean Doyle who heads up the cast as Sky Masterson, with Liz Legge taking the role of Sister Sarah. Brian Pamphelon, known to Supa North audiences as “the man who played ten roles” in Love off the Shelf plays Nathan Detroit opposite Helen Jarvis, a partnership seen recently when they portrayed Rodney and Peg in Dusty.
Other notable Ballina theatre performers include Jesse Mathews, Mike Sheehan, Di and Allen Ennew,Rod Ramsay and Paul Farrell with Jaime Whittingham’s skilled choreography providing a Broadway feel for a talented group of dancers.
