TEX PERKINS & CHARLIE OWEN

TEX PERKINS & CHARLIE OWEN
Thursday, April 16 2015, Doors open 7.45pm, Show starts 8.30pm

Tex Perkins has played a key role in Australian music, with a career that has taken in everything from the ground breaking experimental punktonica of Sydney mid-80s noiseniks Thug to the lilting, dark country of his recent material with The Dark Horses, from the hard edged pub rock of the Beasts Of Bourbon's, to the evocative sound scapes of The Cruel Sea, Tex has heralded the emergence of an entirely original yet archetypically Australian sound. In the early 90s Perkins joined forces with the legendary Don Walker, Cold Chisel's pianist and master songwriter, and Charlie Owen, previously Australia's best kept musical secret, for the unforgettable Tex, Don & Charlie.

Teaming up with Tex for this intimate show will be none other than his good friend Charlie Owen. This is a night not to be missed.

RENEE GEYER

RENEE GEYER
Friday, April 17 2015, 8:30pm

Renee Geyer’s past is Australian music history. Her career has spanned four decades and is still going strong. A precocious jazz, blues and soul singer in her late teens; Countdown royalty in her 20s; a string of pop, soul and reggae hits spanning the 70s and 80s; her LA years in the studio with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sting, Joe Cocker and Chaka Khan; her 90s renaissance with Paul Kelly. She is a singer, a songwriter, producer and author.
In 2010, Renee release The Ultimate Collection, covering four decades of Soul. Whether in the studio or on stage, this is where Renee Geyer is home and continues to wow audiences with her remarkable voice. 2012 saw Renee notch up 40 years in the music business, and to celebrate this amazing anniversary, Renee recorded a big band swing album – something that no female artist has ever endeavoured to do in this country.

Renee Geyer had started out a sensual blues belter, now she has evolved into a bona fide music icon – someone to look up to for never having let go of her dreams. This consummate entertainer with a proud body of work still transfixes a room with the power of her song.

‘First Of The Final Farewell Tours …perhaps’

The Kevin Bloody Wilson Show is not just a concert performance, for most, it’s a full on event and an opportunity to tick from your bucket-list a chance to see Australia’s most unique International comedy legend.

If we were asked to nominate one individual to best define Australian humour, for most of us, the name Kevin Bloody Wilson immediately springs to mind. His recently released biography ‘DILLIGAF, The Life And Rhymes Of Kevin Bloody Wilson’ is a raucous, earthy, in depth look at perhaps one of the only Australian Comedians who has not bowed to the pressures of political correctness.
It’s also a known fact that nobody tells Australian stories better than Kevin Bloody Wilson. His peers agree;
“The world’s funniest Australian” Billy Connolly
“I love Kev. My favourite is Livin’ Next Door To Alan.” Paul Hogan
“Hello John, is the funniest song I’ve ever heard in my entire radio career.” John Laws

John Denver - Take Me Home Country Road

John Denver - Take Me Home Country Road
Sunday, May 10 2015, 8:30PM

John Denver in the mid-1970s was arguably America’s most celebrated male entertainer. His 1973 Greatest Hits album remained on Billboard magazine’s chart of top album sellers for about three years. In 1975 and 1976, Denver won four American Music Awards- honours that measured the sentiments of music buyers rather than industry figures. Of his 24 albums released on the RCA label during his lifetime, 14 were eventually certified gold (for sales of 500,000 copies), and eight of those sold over a million copies each.

Australian singer, Rick Price, has returned from his current home in Nashville to tell the John Denver story. Rick’s award-winning voice gives true heart and soul to Denver’s music, while telling the story of his contradictory life – a life that combined love of the environment, his fellow beings and the planet, while at the same time giving into bouts of infidelity, alcoholism and aberrant behaviour.

Rick narrates a gripping story of Denver’s passions while giving voice to more than 20 of his greatest hits. He is accompanied by The Colorado Quartet in two hours of superb entertainment.

Only one third of the show scripted, so anything can happen as you take a seat in the 'Fawlty Towers' restaurant… Expect all the best gags, shambolic service and a ‘70s style 3-course meal in ‘a hilarious battle of wits, patience, fire extinguishers and fine food’ (Australian Traveller magazine, Sydney Opera House). Just don’t mention the war! Internationally acclaimed by audiences and critics alike.
