Rarely has an Australian band received as much consistent and widespread acclaim from critics and music fans alike as the Bondi Cigars. With half a dozen albums under their belt already, and over a dozen years of constant touring, this award winning quartet have well and truly worked their way into Australia’s musical heart.

Saturday, February 13 2016, From 7.00pm

For the past five years Sugarcane Collins has been riding the blues train for all he is worth. From juke joints in the Mississippi Delta to blues clubs in Buenos Aires, alone and acoustic, he has fearlessly taken his music out on the road performing for those who want their blues alive and raw and real. Recently in South America, he made history by being the very first Australian bluesman to perform in Argentina.

When the 2004 Queensland Songwriter of the Year sings the blues you see the fervour in his face, the light in his eyes and the veins in his neck. A powerful solo performer playing hard driving acoustic guitars, he moves fluidly from down home delta to ragtime to swing to Chicago shuffle. But it is his voice, with its deep resonance and rich tonal variety, which is his most enchanting vehicle. A forceful explosive singer and a versatile dynamic guitarist, he is also a master storyteller. Thirty years worth of adventures on the road and a deep understanding of blues history make for great entertainment whenever Sugarcane Collins commands the stage.

THE SUN RECORDS ALL-STARS is a concert featuring tributes to the legendary artists who graced the studios of the famed Memphis-based record company SUN RECORDS. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins all made their careers there. This official and exclusive touring show stars a talented ensemble cast headed by Roy LeBlanc as Johnny Cash, Gino Monopoly as Elvis Presley, Bill Culp as Carl Perkins and Joe Passion as Jerry Lee Lewis. This is the birth of Rock ‘n Roll in the 1950’s.

“The Sun Records All-Stars is about a magical era that still resonates with musicians and their audience. The music is timeless, without a doubt, and the musicians at the centre of it were originals who were true to themselves. They had authenticity and they weren’t contrived – they were real artists.”

Feature: Fred Lang
Support: Nick Penn
MC: Paul McMahon

Feature - FRED LANG:

‘Forged in the furnace of current affairs and sharpened nightly against the steel of public opinion, Fred’s irreverence is razor sharp. Before your very eyes, Fred masterfully sews into the complacent and contented cloth of public life a thread of colour bright enough to light the way to the nearest psychiatric ward!’

Barrister and dear friend Robin Slade Jones when asked to describe after many viewing what he thought of Fred’s comedic bent.
Having led what he views an interesting life, Fred draws his material from those every experiences, whether it’s his interest in immigration (both his parents escaped from Eastern Europe after WW11). Or his belief that youth gets it way too easy nowadays. (He has no children, automatically making him an authority!).
Fred’s comedy is, and always will be, pertinent, insightful, clever and funny. Story teller, comedian, raconteur or Master of ceremonies this unique performer will ensure a successful and entertaining evening.

Support - NICK PENN:

His knockabout Australian sense of humour has seen him appear on a range os Aussie TV shows aimed at both children and adults and he worked in broadcasting for 2 years on 2Day FM, Sydney's no. 1 rating radio station, including a year with "The Morning Crew".
Nick’s comedy style is energetic and easy-going all at once.

Paul McMahon is comedian based in the Byron Shire and has gained success with his laid back style of observational humour that we can all relate to. He has been a Triple J RAW comedy QLD state finalist two years in a row and was winner of the 2010 ‘Village Idiot’ comedy competition at the Bangalow Big Joke comedy festival.
Paul has been a regular on the comedy circuit. He has performed alongside, Tommy Dean, Frank Woodley, Steady Eddie,Ronny Chang, Austen Tayshus, Tom Gleeson, Dave O’Neil, Chris Franklin, Akmal Saleh and recently opened for US comedian Doug Stanhope on his Australian tour... Paul is a regular performer at the Basement comedy at the Gold Coast Arts centre and is in demand on comedy circuits with his laid back style of observational humour. Paul performed with huge success to large audiences at Woodford Folk Festival, Nimbin Mardi Grass, Falls festival, The Sydney Comedy Store and his successful solo show “Hippycritical’ which he performed at the Brisbane Fringe Comedy festival.
Paul is the polite, quietly spoken guy next door who says what he really thinks on stage. Fathers, girlfriends, friends, shopkeepers, in fact everyone will be able to relate to Paul's easy going nature and hilarious perspective on life.
Paul McMahon has a knack for observation. In a world of comedy where sometimes it feels that everything has been said, Paul is able to go in and come up with fresh ideas. He's unobtrusively laid back on stage, and is capable of taking the audience by the short and curlies with a killer punch line. Paul McMahon is a funny bloke. Watch out for him. Mandy Nolan
I was late for my own gig because I didn't want to miss a thing this witty hippy said- Chris Franklin –
Not only is Paul very funny, he has the best hair of any comedian I have ever met.- Akmal Saleh

Tearing up the stage doesn’t even come close to describing a Mason Rack performance. From the first wailing notes of his lapslide guitar, you know you’re in for something really special - simultaneously roaring then suddenly soothing. Rack and band mates leave their audience open-mouthed & begging for more. Sugarush Records - Deb Suckling

The Mason Rack Band pours out tunes influenced by blues, southern stomp, swamp, classic rock and alternative music. Songwriter/performer Mason Rack is a natural entertainer (since six yrs old!), from a tapestry of slide guitar, deep broken glass vocals and story fuelled blues rock. In his own words: “I just want to bring the best, meanest, horniest, rockin’, swampy, smokey, blues music to my audience”. Three piece (guitar, bass, drums & torchy vocals) MRB was invited to the Adelaide International Guitar Festival in 2008 (& 2010), Woodford Folk Festival, and a festival favourite at several Blues on Broadbeach, East Coast Blues & Roots, Goulburn, “The best new blues/roots act ever seen” at the Toyota National Gympie Muster. Canadian fest goers were astonished by MRB in 2008 and 2009, promised return visits and attract devoted fans worldwide through airplay in Europe, Japan, Canada & USA. Mason won the 2007 Q-Song Award “Best Blues and Roots Song” for “Dust” together with Sydney legend Steve Balbi. From smooth ballad to raging raw rock, MRB burns hot, ignited by the power of Mason’s unstoppable energy, soulful voice and passion live on stage. And watch for those drum duels-eagerly anticipated by those that know!

2015 Has been a cracking year for Lindsay already. Performed at Falls Fest in Byron Bay, Performed his new show “Next Level” at the Adelaide Fringe & Hosting SetList at the Rhino Room during the Fringe. In late March he also Hosted the “Laugh Your Pants Off Gala” at Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast. Later this year (Dec) Lindsay will trial his new 2016 Show “What’s That!?”

Lindsay loves digital media, as regular guest on Wil Andersons “FOFOP” Podcast, “The Dollop” Podcast Live at the Sit Down Comedy Club in August as well as Hosting a Podcast for BP Australia (CBBP Podcast). Lindsay is also now a fill in Presenter with 612 ABC Brisbane.

Also known for crowd warm up for many TV shows including: Gruen Nation (ABC), Q&A (ABC) & Save Your Life Tonight ABC, Ch 9 Telethon Brisbane, Australia’s Got Talent and more.

“Webb is an animated & clever storyteller. You can’t help but have a good time” **** Herald Sun

“Webb should be a household name. His effortless comedy is not to be missed” YAWP

Ellen Briggs is a talented mother of two, with a sharp tongue and a rapidly rising career in the comedy industry!
With just two years’ experience, she bagged first prize on the National Foxtel Comedy Channel's 'Be a Comedian' and earned a spot on Stand Up Australia. She then became a finalist in the nationally televised Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2007 "Raw Comedy" Competition.
Ellen’s relatability is what audiences love. She’s unashamedly ordinary and hilariously funny. She has an easy-going, friendly nature that belies the dark wit that lurks beneath. It’s been said that "Ellen says out loud the things other mothers only dare to even think", and that "with her tales of parenting, she could well become Australia’s next Fiona O’Loughlin". Ellen takes her audience on an observational and hilarious journey through life as an accidental mother of identical twins and the wife of a husband who is away working for 9 months of the year. She has made an art-form of sneaking really politically incorrect jokes onto the end of "nice" yarns. She launches the punch lines stealthily. You won’t see them coming, but you’ll know when they hit. Trevor Hendy recently declared that “Ellen is probably the funniest comedian I’ve ever seen!”.

Mandy Nolan has performed as a stand-up comedian for 18 years. During that time, she has worked alongside celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Ertha Kit, and Bob Downe.
Mandy's stand-up is known and loved for its rapid fire philosophical philandering and for the obtuse observations and esoteric back scratches that emerge from the musings of what she describes as ‘a modern madam whose dilemma is to navigate the new frontiers in the suburban badlands of human relationships.’
