The Girls of Country Tour

The Girls of Country Tour
Saturday, August 01 2015, 8:30PM

AMBER LAWRENCE, ALEYCE SIMMONDS AND CHRISTIE LAMB
THE GIRLS OF COUNTRY TOUR
2015 CMAA Golden Guitar - Female Artist of the Year and 2015 CMC Female Oz Artist of the Year, Amber Lawrence,
leads the way with The Girls of Country Tour.
A brand new touring concept fronted by Amber and featuring guest country artists, Aleyce Simmonds and Christie
Lamb, THE GIRLS OF COUNTRY TOUR takes a leaf out of the former sell out show Songbirds (Beccy Cole, Gina
Jeffreys and Sara Storer) to feature the new breed of award winning female country artists, who are leading the
pack and resurgence of country music in Australia.
In a 2 hour show, audiences cannot only expect to hear the hits from three of the hottest young female country
artists today, but they will also be treated to some very special ‘trio’ performances and putting a twist on things.
Each artist will perform their own version of each other’s hit songs, so get ready to hear something completely
unique and a different version of a song you love!
Whilst there’s some similarity between the three artists – all being country singers, there’s certainly a huge disparity
with their styles. Amber kicks it up with up-tempo, fun and sassy tunes interspersed with personal stories and
heartfelt poignant ballads that she’s become well known for. Christie Lamb rocks it out and Aleyce brings in the
balance with more mid-tempo reflective style and tunes backed up with her exceptional vocals.

Not Strictly Ballroom

Not Strictly Ballroom
Saturday, September 12 2015, Show 8:30pm Doors 7:45pm

Cloudland Ballroom was a Brisbane Icon for over 40 years and was the social hub of the city during the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s. The Stage set for this show is a replica bandstand, identical to the one at Cloudland, including the famous mural backdrop, neon archway & Music Stands. The dance floor in front of the stage is incorporated into the show and for the majority of the show, is available to the audience for dancing, thus creating the illusion that you are dancing in front of the band as you would have done at Cloudland Ballroom itself. Paul has created this unique "interactive" element to the show to give the audience a new and fresh show experience. The show itself incorporates the music, history, fashions and dance phases during Cloudland Ballrooms existence. It is structured as a chronological journey through the Ballroom's history. This nostalgic element literally takes you back in time to when the ‘Weekend Dance’ was a big event and dancing to a live band was the norm.

Normie Rowe has long been regarded as one of Australia’s most recognised and successful singers in a long and illustrious career that spans back to his teens in the early sixties. His chart toppers in the early days were numerous, 11 in fact including his double gold ‘Que Sera Sera’ with its famous ‘B’ side ‘Shakin All Over’, ‘Ooh La La’, ‘Its Not Easy’ and ‘It Aint Necessarily So’.

For over 40 years, Normie has been Australia’s favourite performer. In the sixties, Normie recorded and toured in the UK, and then, in the early seventies Normie was inducted into the Australian Army and sent to Vietnam, becoming our most recognised soldier. He has since that experience worked tirelessly for better conditions for veterans of all wars.

Mike’s career spanned the late 70’s and early 80’s, and brought chart-topping songs and gold albums – plus his own ABC TV show.
