THE HOWIE BROTHERS

THE HOWIE BROTHERS
Thursday, March 19 2015, Doors open 9.45am, show starts 10:30am

Free Seniors Week Concert (Free tickets available at Member Services)

The Howie Brothers (twin brothers John & Graeme Howie) are one of Australia’s leading country music / easy listening acts.

John and Graeme have been performing and recording for over 30 years and are renowned for their distinctive vocal harmony sound. They play a variety of instruments, including piano, guitar, accordion, mandolin, ukulele and drums.
They are both dedicated songwriters and have recorded many of their own songs over the years.

It has often been said that The Howie Brothers have a ‘sound of their own’. However, their music could accurately be described as being Australian country, with bluegrass, Irish/Scottish, easy listening, singalong type influences. Think Hawking Brothers, Slim Dusty, Foster & Allen, and Max Bygraves and that will give you some idea of what the Howies are about, musically. They like to incorporate a few funny yarns into their shows. As John says, ‘Good music and a few laughs is a winning combination.’

ARJ BARKER - GO TIME

ARJ BARKER - GO TIME
Thursday, March 19 2015, 8:30PM

ARJ BARKER ‘GO TIME’

“The lights dim. The music fades. The audience applauds with anticipation. Or they just get alarmingly quiet. Every show you’ve ever done leads up to this point. But this is the only show that matters now. Have you got the goods, kid? They’re about to find out. It’s Go Time.”

Since his last Australian tour, Arj has been touring constantly, both solo and with his old pals, ‘The Flight of the Concords’. After a sellout tour in 2013 Arj returns to Australia by popular demand to perform his hit show “Go Time”. According to Arj, Go Time is both “what audiences expect from me AND the last thing they expect from me, which if my calculations are correct, will make for a great show.”

Arj Barker is arguably Australia’s favourite American comedian. In recent years, he has spent more time in our country than his own and has come to understand our culture perhaps better than we understand it ourselves. His stand-up is both insightful and pointed, like a mind-reading thumb tack, if there was one of those.

GREEN STREET BAND

GREEN STREET BAND
Friday, March 27 2015, 6.30pm

Playing his own originals and some well known tunes, Milo Green's music has a fun, folky feel that makes you want to move.

With masterful guitar work, a smooth voice and a whole lot of love, Green's own powerfully crafted acoustic tunes, which are etched in blues, folk and rock tradition, could easily have come from a previous era like the swinging '60s.
He also puts his own twist on great songs by Neil Young, Paul Kelly, Bob Marley and more.

This fun-loving entertainer is a fiend for demon-like harmonica solos and foot-stomping breakdowns. Sit back and let your ears be treated to a smooth and memorable solo performance.

Kevin Bloody Wilson
In
‘First Of The Final Farewell Tours …perhaps’

The Kevin Bloody Wilson Show is not just a concert performance, for most, it’s a full on event and an opportunity to tick from your bucket-list a chance to see Australia’s most unique International comedy legend.

If we were asked to nominate one individual to best define Australian humour, for most of us, the name Kevin Bloody Wilson immediately springs to mind. His recently released biography ‘DILLIGAF, The Life And Rhymes Of Kevin Bloody Wilson’ is a raucous, earthy, in depth look at perhaps one of the only Australian Comedians who has not bowed to the pressures of political correctness.
It’s also a known fact that nobody tells Australian stories better than Kevin Bloody Wilson. His peers agree;
“The world’s funniest Australian” Billy Connolly
“I love Kev. My favourite is Livin’ Next Door To Alan.” Paul Hogan
“Hello John, is the funniest song I’ve ever heard in my entire radio career.” John Laws

John Denver - Take Me Home Country Road

John Denver - Take Me Home Country Road
Sunday, May 10 2015, 8:30PM

John Denver in the mid-1970s was arguably America’s most celebrated male entertainer. His 1973 Greatest Hits album remained on Billboard magazine’s chart of top album sellers for about three years. In 1975 and 1976, Denver won four American Music Awards- honours that measured the sentiments of music buyers rather than industry figures. Of his 24 albums released on the RCA label during his lifetime, 14 were eventually certified gold (for sales of 500,000 copies), and eight of those sold over a million copies each.

Australian singer, Rick Price, has returned from his current home in Nashville to tell the John Denver story. Rick’s award-winning voice gives true heart and soul to Denver’s music, while telling the story of his contradictory life – a life that combined love of the environment, his fellow beings and the planet, while at the same time giving into bouts of infidelity, alcoholism and aberrant behaviour.

Rick narrates a gripping story of Denver’s passions while giving voice to more than 20 of his greatest hits. He is accompanied by The Colorado Quartet in two hours of superb entertainment.
