Celebrating 150 Years of Boom Town Ballina

Prepare yourselves for a fabulous evening of nostalgia, giant beach balls and good, old-fashioned fun!

Ballina Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc and Ballina RSL Club Ltd are proud to bring you a very special gala dinner celebrating Ballina’s 150th anniversary.

The town of Ballina was officially gazetted on 7th November, 1856. Our “night of nights” is scheduled for the eve of our community’s birthday, Monday, 6th November (at the Ballina RSL from 6pm) – so mark your diary now!

This unique event will take us on an incredibly moving and sentimental journey back through Ballina’s history, with music, film, song, stories and amazing images.

The theme for the night will be based on the ‘1964 Miss Summergirl Competition’, a popular event held at Lighthouse Beach. There will be dancing summer girls, roving lifeguards and many characters from Ballina’s past — just remember to duck when the giant beach balls roll!

An enormous cake will be the final highlight of a gourmet, 3-course feast of the finest regional cuisine ... all prepared by our own multi-award winning Executive Chef, Gerhard Spatz.

The event will focus attention on Ballina’s rich heritage, raise funds to support a Ballina heritage initiative and help to preserve the things that are unique about our community.

This special birthday celebration also kicks off an “event-full” week that includes the 2006 Melbourne Cup, Remembrance Day and an incredibly exciting 2006 Ballina Rivafest (10, 11 & 12 November) - Ballina Shire's major annual festival. Visit www.ballinarivafest.com.au for more details.

“Celebrating 150 Years of Boom Town Ballina!” tickets are $75 per head and include pre- function canapés and champagne/wine/beer on arrival, a three-course meal with your choice of wine, beer or soft drink and a slice of our monster birthday cake!
